Western China International Fair 2020

The Western China International Fair, starting from China Western Development, was founded in May 2000. The permanent site is located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. The WCIF adheres to the concept of “co-organization, sharing, and win-win”. Co-sponsored or supported by 15 ministries and commissions such as the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Ministry of Science and Technology, 12 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) in western China, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and Boao Forum for Asia, it is a national-level and international comprehensive exhibition hosted by the People's Government of Sichuan Province. It has been successfully held for 16 sessions. After long-term development, the WCIF has become an important window and the best platform for the opening-up of western China. It is an important investment promotion, trade cooperation and diplomatic service platform for China in the western region, and an important carrier for realizing western cooperation, east-west cooperation and Sino-foreign cooperation in the western region. In 2014, the WCIF was incorporated into the national institutional large-scale foreign forum and exhibition organizing scheme by the Chinese government. In March 2015, it was included in the national “Belt and Road” strategic government white paper, and became one of the top ten national key exhibitions to promote the “Belt and Road” construction.

Actively serve the investment promotion and build the foundation for economic development. It focuses on the China Western Development, and adheres to highlighting western characteristics, internationalization, economic and trade achievements, and investment promotion. From the 1st to 16th WCIF, a total of more than 11,000 investment cooperation agreements have been signed, and the contracted investment amount has exceeded 6.01 trillion yuan.

Deepen trade cooperation and achieve mutual benefit. From the 1st to 16th WCIF, the accumulated overseas participating countries (regions) have reached 1,005. The exhibition area has achieved 1.804 million square meters. Exhibitors has achieved 55,800. Participating guests have exceeded 404,000, including 115,000 overseas guests. Trade turnover has achieved 1.31 trillion yuan.

Promote high-level diplomatic interaction and enhance international exchanges. Li Keqiang, Wang Qishan, Wang Yang, Ma Kai, Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Wang Yong and other party and state leaders, as well as 54 foreign politicians (former politicians), more than 500 ministerial officials and heads of important international organizations attended the previous 16 sessions of WCIF.

The 16th WCIF was held in Chengdu from November 3 to 14, 2016. The total exhibition area was 200,000 square meters and is held in two sections. The guest of honor is Germany. State leaders such as Wang Yong, Chen Changzhi, Ji Bingxuan and Wang Qinmin, 8 foreign politicians and former politicians such as Guinean President Conte, German Deputy Prime Minister, 37 foreign ministerial officials, 25 ambassadors and 5 heads of international organizations, and nearly 300 representatives of important business associations attended the Fair. 9,027 enterprises from 91 countries and regions participated in the Fair, including 2,347 overseas enterprises. 16 countries set up national pavilions. During the session, a total of 77 major and special activities were held, including 10 major activities. International activities accounted for 60%, an increase of 10% over the previous session. The Fair attracted a total of 510,000 visitors.
